Golden Proportion is a marvel that exists all around us. Look around yourself, items of beauty in nature, art even teeth have a common proportion. Whilst beauty cannot be measured, harmony that is associated with beauty can be expressed in a proportion. This principle of proportion has been known since the time of the Ancient Greeks. So clear-cut in principle the vast majority of dentists do not know it exists nor do they apply it in everyday practice. The ratio of 1 to 0.618 is the simplest form of the universally acclaimed Golden Proportion.
Why are beautiful items not symmetrical or even? Why is the portion not 1 to 1? In equality there is no difference, and without difference there is no perceptual universe. Whether we know it or not, all things take on their existence from that which perceives them.
Lack of dento-facial harmony, is non compliant to the golden proportion. Attention is given to the disproportionate features, such as misaligned teeth, spacing, and high smile lines. A smile following the golden proportion blue print has the width of the central incisor in golden proportion to the width of the lateral incisor (as seen from the front), which in turn is in golden proportion to the part of the canine that is visible from the front.
Ideal dental/facial aesthetics can be planned using the digital technology encompassing the Golden Proportion concept. Treatment planned using the golden proportion follows a blue print for beauty; it is central to the smile design process. Golden Proportion is a concept that Smile Cliniq, the best dentist in London, endeavours to use, in each and every case.
